Chessimo App Reviews

Almost too simple but outstanding material

Outstanding how it explains the strategic and why they are good developments

Great app for all levels

Helps to sharpen the users memory of certain positions and to the decide the best move. Sadly this doesnt progress to two move puzzle but alas, perhaps in the future there will be an app that will do just that.

Great training app!

Love this app. Great for training.

This is free?

Great app. Could use some better board options, but its a free app so Im not going to complain.

Good but not perfect.

I love the ability to solve tactics puzzles on the go, but there are some puzzles with mistakes. Also they really should implement algebraic notation and the ability to change the Crafty ELO.

Great app except...

Its a great app. Does most of what i want it to do. Only problem is the pieces are hard to see. The pawns, the king, the queen and the bishops all look very similar. Other than that, app is good.

Great app!

Works just as expected and I can see my game improving

Choose carefully

I paid for all the modules on my iPad and expected it to unlock them on my iphone via my Apple ID like many other apps I have. But it doesnt do that. So unless you want to spend twice as much, choose carefully which device you want to use this app on. The app also crashes randomly. I am not a fan of choosing a move that is perfectly equal to the suggested move just to be told to pick again. Get smarter programmers, this is a common issue with chess programs and most developers who are any good have already worked this issue out.

Great app to learn great chess!

Well put together, very clear and understandable, best app ive encountered for taking your game up a few notches!!

Initial review: solid training app

I worked through about 120 situations, and this is a great way to learn/practice chess tactics.

The best for training except...

1) no syncing. example: imagine only studying on your iPhone for 120 days. You get a new iPad for Christmas? Sorry kid, you have to start over now. 2) Facebook login doesnt work. Busy more importantly, why do I need to share stuff on Facebook? Why cant Facebook help me sync progress? 3) support link is broken. 4) good material Overall, until they let me sync or export/import my progress, this app would be great in the 1990s.

Great

Fun and helpful

Superb!

Using this program and tactical training method, I was able to gain 400+ USCF rating points in just 3 months. Look me up on the USCF site: Jules Carter

Almost excellent

This software is almost brilliant, but needs a few tweaks before getting there. First off, I am a low rated player and not in a position to comment on the strategic suggestions nor quality of the more nuanced coaching. After the demo, I purchased all the modules. First, the good: the tactical exercises are outstanding and include much repetition and a gradual increase in difficulty. If youre looking for an airplane application to practice when chesstempo.com is not available, this is perfect. Some areas which could be improved: - The program doesnt follow standard algebraic notation. Its clear enough, but not sure why it would use something other than the standard. This is clearly translated app, perhaps these are regional differences between Brasil and the US? - The tactical excises (units) are quite long. Even on a long plane ride Im usually not capable of completing 130 exercises straight through. You loose focus during the longer sessions. - The non-tactical exercises (endgames/openings) are lacking instruction and arent standalone. They are good drills, but youll need an opening book and good endgame book to round things out. Overall combined with some other resources in my library, this is a good trainer to supplement other learning guides, but falls short of being a complete training tool.

Great way to improve

I love being able to pull this app up and practice my tactics
